Does he even have the right to be mad at me for this?

quick and simple . This guy named Maurice liked me and i knew that. but a few weeks later i heard that he's been saying how he is in love with me and he wants me to be is girfriend. like we were valentines but just for the fun of it nothing official or anything. I didnt tell him that i didnt like him back, but come to think about it, i never told him that i did like him.. (cause i didnt like him at all in that way) ..... and like i just got a boyfriend yesterday and now he's pissed. like does he have a reason to be pissed if me and him weren't even "talking" (getting to know eachother) ??
