Question about my friend!?

My friend gets really mad at me when I'm nice to her stepmom. She hates her stepmom because she's still trying to get her parents back together even though they have been divorced for two years. Do you think I'm being mean by talking to her stepmom? She's really nice to me and to my friend but my friend still hates her. What should I do?
